Made to look so pretty on the counter, this handmade French butter keeper keeps your butter perfectly creamy and spreadable at room temperature.
This 19th century French design has two components. The base is designed to hold two inches of water, while the softened butter is spread into the lid. When the lid is placed back into the base, it creates a seal and keeps the butter fresh.
When adding your room temperature butter, you'll want to fill it to the top of the lid but not overfill (about 3/4 to 1 stick of butter should be enough). You'll also want to change the water every 2-3 days to maintain the freshest butter possible. The keeper will keep your butter fresh for about a month, much longer than butter in the fridge. And should your butter get too soft, just place in the fridge until it's the desired consistency.
